Imperia and surroundings Cycling between the sea, olive trees and green lakes

Three wonderful days (extendable to four if you want to split the visit of Porto Maurizio from the excursion to Cervo) to breathe in the sea air while cycling along this beautiful stretch of coast, but also to explore the hinterland with the delightful village of Dolcedo and the green lakes of Lecchiore. We start with Porto Maurizio (u Po'rtu in Ligurian dialect), a district of Imperia in a dominant position overlooking the sea; a medieval village full of lights and colors among the most beautiful of the Riviera, with its extraordinary Loggia of the Clarisse convent from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view. From here, passing through Diano Marina, on absolutely quiet roads, you make an easy excursion to Cervo, a medieval village perched on the hill with towers and sixteenth-century walls, the "carugi" and its splendid parish church.
The next day the program includes cycling towards San Lorenzo al Mare and Sanremo (where you can visit Villa Nobel), which can be extended to Ospedaletti passing through characteristic villages such as Santo Stefano (home of the Sea Museum) and Riva Ligure, on a wonderful cycle path overlooking the sea with panoramic views of the cliffs, built on the former now disused railway, now the Coastal Park of the Riviera dei Fiori. The third day we head towards the hinterland in the direction of Dolcedo, a splendid village 10 km from the coast, crossed by a stream that forms a sparkling waterfall. From here we recommend an easy walk through the woods with a difference in altitude of 210 m that takes you first to the delightful lakes of Lecchiore, green and very fresh pools of water passing through Bellissimi, the town of paper hot air balloons.

1st day  individual arrival in the morning at the hotel in Porto Maurizio, where you will find the rental bike, free visit of Porto Maurizio and excursion to Cervo (approx. 23 km round trip)
2nd day excursion on the splendid cycle path that runs along the sea from San Lorenzo al Mare to Ospedaletti passing through characteristic villages such as Santo Stefano al Mare, Riva Ligure; the stretch to Ospedaletti is approx. 45 km; the return is possible by train from Sanremo
3rd day excursion by bike to the characteristic village of Dolcedo, approx. 15 km round trip almost flat; then from Dolcedo we recommend the excursion on foot to the lakes of Lecchiore passing through the town of Bellissimi (2.5 hours - altitude difference 210 m). In the afternoon end of services.

The routes do not present particular difficulties. No difference in altitude in the two excursions by the sea towards Sanremo and towards Cervo; you travel either the cycle path or quiet roads with very little or no traffic. The excursion inland involves a difference in altitude of 80 m to be done by bike in a slight uphill on the way out (no more than 1%) and the excursion on foot involves a difference in altitude of 210 m without too steep climbs.
