A tour that starts from the historic Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace, and takes you through picturesque valleys and charming Alpine villages to reach Italy for a short stretch before entering Slovenia. Continue into the heart of the Julian Alps towards the fairy-tale scenery of Lake Bled, in Slovenia, with its beautiful island and the perched castle reflected in the lake's waters.
Day 1 Individual arrival in Salzburg
A tour is recommended to enjoy the city, in particular to see the Altstadt (old town), a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Day 2 Salzburg - St.Johann in Pongau approx. 65 km
Today you will proceed through the beautiful Salzach Valley towards Hohenwerfen Castle, perched on a rock 113 meters above the village of Werfen. It is among the oldest and best preserved castles in Europe. Surrounded by the Tennen, Hagengebirge and Hochkönig mountain ranges, it is certainly a sight not to be missed. Weather permitting, you can take a trip to the high valley towards the Eisriesenwelt ice caves.
Day 3 Day St.Johann in Pongau - Mallnitz approx. 57 km
You will proceed on a cycle path through the enchanting Gastien Valley and the splendid Liechtenstein Gorge and stop in the beautiful spa town of Bad Gastien, in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, before arriving in the Alpine village of Mallnitz.
Day 4 Mallnitz - Mühldorf/Sachsenburg approx. 30km
You are in the heart of the ancient province of Carinthia, you cycle downhill in the Molltal valley admiring the beauty of 3000 meter peaks. The highlight of the day will be the rack railway that offers a breathtaking view of the Drau Valley.
Day 5 Mühldorf/Sachsenburg - Villach approx. 54 km
A relatively easy descent will take you along the Drava River near the town of Spitall an der Drau, and the suggestive and ancient Roman city of Teurnia. Then you will arrive in Villach, the meeting point of the valleys, and leave behind the Alpine climate to meet a decidedly more Mediterranean climate.
Day 6 Villach - Kranjska Gora approx. 54 Km
You arrive in Italy in the town of Tarvisio and then continue on the panoramic cycle path that will take you along the old railway line that crosses the Italian-Slovenian border and then through the beauty of the Sava Valley. The magnificent Mount Dobratsch will dominate your view as you reach the village of Kranjska Gora.
Day 7 Kranjska Gora - Bled approx. 40 Km
On the last day you will explore the heart of the Triglav Mountain National Park, following the Sava River. We cycle in the Krma Valley, with its World War II monuments and traditional farms, one of which is now a museum. We can stop for lunch in a mountain hut under Triglav, the highest peak in the Julian Alps, surrounded by beautiful Alpine scenery. We continue along the Radovna Valley and make a short detour to the Vintgar Gorge, 1.6 km long and 150 m deep.
Day 8 Bled. End of the trip after breakfast

How to get there |
By plane: the nearest airport is Salzburg Airport (SZG), 3 km from the city center. From the airport you can reach the city center by bus.
The airport is served by several airlines: Austrian, British Airways, German Wings, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Ryanair.
By train: the main station is called Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, and is located in the city center. From Italy you change in Innsbruck, from which you can reach Salzburg in 2 hours
By car: from the Brenner Pass, 220 km by highway.
For the return: Bled is two hours by bus from Ljubljana Airport.
