From Turin, elegant and regal, the first capital of Italy, rich in greenery thanks to the hill and the four rivers, to Milan, the capital of business and fashion, with its glamour of a great European city. An exciting journey into the green heart of Piedmont and then, past the Ticino, into Lombardy, the richest region in Italy. The blue of the lakes of Viverone, Orta and Maggiore and the green of the many rivers and canals will remain in your eyes. The stop in Gattinara, a town full of wine shops, will allow you to taste excellent wines. You will stay in Pavia, an ancient Lombard capital and refined university city and you will discover the Certosa, a splendid monumental complex from the 14th century. The entrance to Milan will take place along the historic canal of the Naviglio Pavese, where goods were once transported on barges, until reaching the Darsena in the neighborhood most loved by the Milanese. Here every evening you can enjoy the ritual of the aperitif, a prelude to the delicacies of dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants. The five metro lines allow you to reach any area of ​​the city in just a few minutes.

 

 

1st day:  individual arrival in Turin
Two-faced Turin will surprise you. Former industrial city, home of Fiat, but also the first capital of Italy, full of noble residences, today it is a modern, refined and well-kept city, with large spaces and lots of greenery, perfect for a visit by bike. Enjoy the excellent cuisine and wines

 

2nd day: Turin – Chivasso - Mazzè – Maglione - Lake Viverone 67 km
You cycle along the largest river in Italy, the Po, up to Chivasso, then you continue through green hills passing through Mazzè, with its castle from which you can enjoy a beautiful view, and Maglione, the town of murals, until you reach the quiet of Lake Viverone

 

3rd day: Lake Viverone - Candelo - Gattinara km 65
You cross the "serra" of Ivrea, a large moraine hill, then you descend towards Candelo with its extraordinary ricetto, a fortified medieval village. You continue up and down among vineyards and very green hills until you reach Gattinara, famous for its excellent wine

 

4th day: Gattinara – Pella – ferry to Orta km 38
You cross the Sesia river, then you continue up and down until you reach a small jewel of Piedmont: Lake Orta. You cycle along the western shore to Pella, where you take the ferry; passing near the island of San Giulio with its monastery you disembark at Orta

 

5th day:  Orta – Arona – Sesto Calende - Oleggio/surroundings km 58
After leaving the delightful village of Orta, we follow a beautiful route through the hills that takes us to Arona with its cycle path along Lake Maggiore. In Sesto Calende, we cross the iron bridge over the Ticino river and continue along the splendid embankment. Overnight stay in Oleggio

 

6th day: Oleggio – Ticino Park - Pavia km 68
Today you cycle in the Ticino Park on dirt roads in good condition. The natural environment is beautiful, the green of the trees is reflected in the river from which numerous canals branch off. Along one of these you reach Pavia, an elegant university city, ancient capital of the Lombard kingdom. The historic center is kept in perfect condition and full of beautiful shops

 

7th day: Pavia - Certosa – Milan Km 34
We leave Pavia along the Naviglio Grande and soon we reach the Certosa, a medieval jewel that we recommend visiting. A few kilometers and we reach Milan, a city with a thousand facets, in continuous evolution, the true economic engine of Italy

 

8th day: Milan; end of the trip after breakfast
